| | Some of the "games" on the Wii Fit are fun and addicting. The yoga and strength exercises are not so much fun, but for some reason, I seem to be establishing a routine that includes those. Every morning, when I wake up, I get on, and do a "Body Test," which includes my weight, my BMI, and then I can do balance games to get my "Wii Fit Age," which is how old my body was acting during the balance games. When I get home from work, I want to get right on the Wii Fit, to the point where I've been ignoring e-mail and stuff. I think I've got that under control and hopefully, the exercises will eventually start having great benefits. I know that I have to do other things than the Wii Fit, but with recent "issues" it's all I dare do. So, what are these issues? It started with my right knee and now includes my left knee and a back muscle behind my right hip. After we moved, I change my running routine to be less distance, more times a week. I felt that I was doing too much abuse at once and wanted to spread out the abuse. I was also hoping to be able to do a 4-mile run once a week with four or five two-miles runs. Well, I had only gotten to four or five two-mile runs a week when things started to get interesting. First, my right knee started to experience some "numbness" and pain. Well, the numbness went away, but the pain didn't. Then, my left knee started to bug me ever so slightly because of compensation. Then, two weeks ago we have to do a bunch of moving (getting furniture from Albany to Springville for our house that my mother-in-law and an "aunt-in-law" was giving us)), and my back starting giving me issues. Last weekend, I was trying to help my brother and I couldn't do any heavy lifting. Missy examined my back and found a huge knot in one of my muscles. I had already stopped running, and this just caused me to take the next step--meds. I've been taking advil all week (which is really helping), and will do so for another week. The exercises I have been doing on the Wii Fit are ones to help my core muscles and my back, so I'm hoping that after two weeks, I can at least run every so often. I know that my endurance will disappear, but I'm hoping that the yoga and strength training, plus walking (outside and eventually on the treadmill at the gym) will get me through until January, when I'll hopefully try to start running again to get in shape for the 10K at work in the Spring. God Bless!!! |
